People of Perigord

Kieran O'Halloran

Artworker

Perigord Dublin, Ireland

1. How long have you been working with Perigord?

I’m just in the door. I started at the beginning of October, so still learning the ropes.

2. What is your role?

I’m an Artworker.

3. How would you describe a typical work day?

The team has a call at 8:30 every morning and we go over what needs to be done for the day.

As I’m new to the position I tend to have a lot of questions throughout the day so I’m usually found hounding David and the others on the team for answers. I try and get out for a walk on my break to stretch my legs and at 2 o’clock we have a more relaxed team call to have a chat and bring up any issues that we’ve had throughout the day.

4. What do enjoy most about your role?

I’m very much enjoying the learning process of the role so far. I love working with Adobe programmes (when they’re playing nice) and I’ve learnt so much already from everyone on the team, they’ve been a huge help in getting me up and running.

5. What is your proudest professional accomplishment?

I moved home from the UK in March. I came home right before the lockdown kicked in. Having made the decision to move home, it then seemed unlikely I’d find a job that I wanted to further my career in. Getting a job with Perigord after moving home when things were looking a little bleak for the country, is something that I am very grateful for and very proud of.

6. What is the most courageous thing you have done in your life?

I don’t know would I describe myself as courageous but packing my bags and moving country, fresh out of college, with a just a few hundred euro in my pocket took a bit of gumption. I ended up in England so not very exotic but it worked out for me and I lived there for 5 years very happily.

It’s a story a lot of people my age (31) have to tell but still one with risks non the less.

7. If you could meet anyone, living or dead - who would it be and why?

I’m not a religious man but I’d love to have a couple glasses of water with Jesus (of Nazareth)

Just to see if he’s any craic.

8. Have you anything planned over the Christmas period?

I’m used to flying home for Christmas and seeing my family and friends down in Limerick. If I can visit any of them this year I’ll be very happy!

9. It’s fair to say, that 2020 will be a year that many of us won’t forget! Looking back on 2020, what is your most memorable moment?

All in all, it’s been a crazy year for me! Apart from the obvious downsides to the year I’ve had a lot of great moments. I’ve moved back to Ireland. I got engaged back in August. I was best man to my brother at his wedding in October. I started my new job here the following week.

These are the things I’ll remember 2020 for!

10. What is your favourite game or sport to watch and play?

I’m a big golf fan. I grew up playing it and I’ll always be itching to get out to play a few holes when I can.
