People of Perigord

Catalina Sanchez

Marketing Assistant
Perigord Dublin, Ireland

1. How long have you been working with Perigord?
2 years

2. What is your role at Perigord?
Last year I started an exciting new role as Marketing Assistant, we have a great team and it is a hub of activity.

3. How would you describe your role here in Perigord?
My main function is to dive on the internet, research for information even when it is really hidden. I am like a “detective”, looking for clues, to get to the information needed. Very dynamic and amazingly enriching. Every day I learn something new!

4. What is your proudest professional accomplishment?
In my previous role, I was delighted, to be selected, to train the new agency that had begun to work with us, on the use of our software.
In Perigord, I have been lucky enough to have held three different roles, so lots of variety in a short time. I feel I am really appreciated here for my skills’, which is something that makes me proud every day.

5. Can you tell us a little about where you live? Did you grow up here?
I was born in Colombia but raised in Spain. After that I became a citizen of the world, living in different countries. These days, I have settled in Stepaside, a beautiful part of Dublin and I am in love with this place. It reminds of the Basque Country where I grew up!! (except for the weather – a little colder here!)

6. With COVID restrictions being eased further, have you any staycations planned over the coming months?
I will enjoy taking some time off later in the Summer and then concentrate on keeping my 4-year-old daughter Adriana out of trouble before she starts primary school. She has been my eager assistant while working from home over the last few months. These days, she will probably be able to set up her own Zoom calls and explain how to find your way around Salesforce!

7. What is your favourite sport to watch and which team do you support?
Lately, like most of you, I have not seen much sport, but I used to be a big fan of football (soccer for the USA). My favourite team is and always will be the Real Sociedad from San Sebastian (you can take the girl out of Spain….).

8. Is there something which you have seen recently, that made you smile?
My daughter is the source of most of my smiles. She is at a great age and very funny. One day recently (probably bored from pre-school being closed) she came to me looking very happy and proud. Unfortunately, she had a pair of scissors in her hand, that was a bad sign. She then opens the other hand and there was a large bunch of her hair as a gift for me. When I looked up towards her head, she had a very funny tuft standing straight up in the air. She had given herself a brand-new style, I could not help it, I just burst out laughing.

9. What are your top 3 Podcasts/Books?
Any of Gabriel Garcia Marquez, especially, ‘100 Years of Solitude’.
‘We are all born Basque’, by Oscar Terol (I literally cried laughing)
‘A Season in Hell’, by Arthur Rimbaud.

10. Do you have any interests or hobbies?
I love to do cross-stitching it is very relaxing. Unfortunately, I do not have much time for it at the minute. I also love to watch documentaries about ancient cultures, especially Egypt.

11. What is your favourite TV show—the one you are always watching on repeat?
I do not have any favourite tv show, but probably will say any vampire shows or Sherlock Holmes.
