Meeting USDSCSA and Serialization Requirements

The US Drug Supply Chain Safety Act (USDSCSA) is a subset of the Drug Quality and Security Act. Its original goal was to be fully implemented by November 2017. As many large pharmaceutical companies struggled to meet this deadline, it was pushed back to November 2018.
As serialization codes have to be included on all salable units, this chapter focuses on label design and serialization elements that are needed to comply with the new regulations. See the video clip to find out more about:
  • Serialization deadlines
  • Correct application of serial numbers
  • Correct application of matrix codes
  • Requirements for packaging aggregation
